Information You Provide
- Grade Level Selection: We store the grade level you select to customize math content appropriately. This is stored locally on your device.
- Practice History: We store your child's practice results locally on the device to track progress and provide performance insights.
Camera Usage
- ClassMate uses your device's camera solely to scan math problems for the Homework Help feature.
- Images are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers.
- Scanned images are sent to our AI service provider for problem recognition and are immediately discarded after processing.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers from children.
- We do not require account creation or login.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.
- We do not display advertisements or collect data for advertising purposes.
How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used solely to:
- Provide age-appropriate math content based on the selected grade level
- Display practice history and progress tracking
- Process homework images to provide step-by-step explanations
Data Storage and Security
- All user preferences and practice history are stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms.
- We do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on external servers.
- Images captured for homework help are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored.
Third-Party Services
ClassMate uses the following third-party services:
- Google Gemini AI: Used to analyze math problems and generate explanations. Images are processed according to Google's privacy policy and are not retained after processing.
- ElevenLabs: Used for text-to-speech voice guidance. Only the text of explanations is sent for voice synthesis; no personal data is transmitted.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
ClassMate is designed for children ages 5-12. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by:
- Not collecting personal information from children
- Not requiring account creation or login
- Not displaying targeted advertising
- Storing all data locally on the device under parental control
Parental Rights
Parents have full control over their child's use of ClassMate:
- All data is stored locally on your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app
- You can reset practice history within the app settings
- No account deletion is necessary as we don't create accounts
Terms of Service
By using ClassMate, you agree to the following terms:
- ClassMate is provided "as is" for educational purposes
- The app is intended for children ages 5-12 under parental supervision
- AI-generated explanations are for learning assistance and should be verified by parents or teachers
- You are responsible for your device's camera permissions and usage
- We reserve the right to update features and content to improve the learning experience
